Folklore - The ancient Inuit legend tells us that long ago the Northern Lights were trapped deep inside the rocks along the coast of Labrador. One day an Inuit warrior saw a glimpse of flashing light coming from the rock face. From his curiosity, he took his spear and freed the light which danced its way into the night sky creating the spectacular Northern lights that we know today, but as the way the legend goes, the warrior couldn’t release all of the light. The light that remained imprisoned within that stone had remained a secret until shown in the daylight, its bright, colorful patterns danced and swayed across the rock just as the Northern Lights. This legend always made me smile and whenever I hold a piece of Labradorite. I almost feel like I am holding a piece of magic.
